Samenvatting

This paper documents the process that took place during the development and implementation of a three-state traveler information system. While many issues arose which are very common to other systems such as location referencing, there were several issues that arose that are unique to the Gateway as a major, three-state deployment of multi-modal, multi-functional traveler information system. These issues can be expected to be more applicable to other projects in the future. The paper also discusses some of the issues encountered in connecting to non-traditional data sources and offers some lessons learned that may help others as they develop similar comprehensive traveler information systems which seek to link many jurisdictions and to fuse many disparate sources of transportation data.
