Samenvatting
Most maintenance work on roads and streets has to be carried out while allowing the continuation of traffic flow. This article discusses the various (German) requirements which must be met in order to safeguard workers against accidents. These requirements have been laid down in three (sets of) regulations: the Strassenverkehrsordnung (StVO), the regulations for the safety of road maintenance work (RSA 95), and the additional technical requirements for road maintenance work (ZTV-SA 97). These regulations govern issues such as safe distances from traffic zones, road blocking requirements and traffic regulations. The RSA 97 regulations are the most important and are discussed in more detail. (A)
