Results of a project where the safety of cyclists and moped riders on main roads in Greater Copenhagen has been examined, are presented. Data on traffic accidents, involving cyclists and moped riders, were related to the geometric layout of the roads. The importance of cycle tracks along main roads is highlighted. Accident rates associated with different layouts of minor read junctions and of signalised intersections are examined. Road layouts beneficial for cyclist are rot necessarily beneficial to moped riders.
