Speed measurements with radar were carried out on eleven locations in the dutch motorway network during two days in april 1983 on more than 31000 vehicles. Two categories of vehicles are distinguished: one for which the maximum speed limit on motorways was 100 km/h (car, delivery van and motorcycle) and one for which the maximum speed limit was 80 km/h (lorry, bus, trailer). For the first category 66.6% drove faster than 100 km/h and 17% drove faster than 120 km/h. From the second category 75.7% drove faster than the mandatory 80 km/h. The execution of the measurement and the data processing are discussed briefly.
