Samenvatting

In many small villages the non destination traffic follows a road through the multifunctional centre. Usually the velocity of this traffic is high. In an attempt to reduce this velocity, there have been placed two indication boards at the entrances of the village of Schoonebeek, that give a warning signal to the driver whose velocity is high. At the same time a more forcing measure was introduced, by means of radar installations that offer the possibility to verbalize violations of the maximum speed. In this investigation the effects, of the separate measures on the course of the velocity, have been analysed. Also has been investigated what the effects are of all measures together, on the mean velocity through the whole vilage. Therefore, velocity registrations have been carried out before and after the introduction of the measures. With respect to the course of the velocity, registrations have been done by infrared sensors over a registration traject that covered about half of the length of the village traject. With respect to the mean velocity through the whole village, on both sides of it number plates have been registred using video cameras.
