Samenvatting

In 1991 the Department of Transport sponsored an empirical study investigating socio-economic and environmental factors in child pedestrian accidents. The first stage of the study was a literature review. The review covers research from the field of health and road safety and discusses findings which may account for differences in accident risk between socio-economic groups. Remedial measures are discussed in the context of the policy implications involved in targeting disadvantaged road users. (A)
