Samenvatting

The purpose of this paper is to review four major social psychological models of individual decision making that have been developed by N. Anderson, M. Fishbein, M. Rosenberg, and H. Triandis. The discussion of each model covers: (a) the model's mathematical formulation; (b) the operationalisation of variables; and (c) a review of one study utilising the model. Following this, a brief analysis is given of problems encountered in the prediction of actual behaviour from decisions, expressed as expectations or intentions. The paper concludes with a general discussion and evaluation of the models.
