Samenvatting

Western australia has been stable for a considerable time resulting in a subdued topography. Weathering and erosion have produced a complex series of in situ and transported soil and rock types. These materials are used as basecourse materials throughout much of western australia. Classification systems for rock weathering and pedocrete formation may be able to provide the basis for a geotechnical model to assist in exploration for suitable basecourse materials. A review of published works has provided guidelines on the engineering significance and geotechnical aspects of some weathered rock products.
