Samenvatting
There are many methods of assessing the risks to road users, and several have been used to define the risk of cycling, and to compare that risk with the risk of using other private transport modes, specifically cars and motor-cycles. The difficulty of choosing an appropriate measure of risk is discussed in relation to previously published risk estimates. A disaggregation of readily available accident and journey data is used to estimate the risk of car drivers on roads other than motorways and to estimate the risk to mature cyclists.
