Samenvatting

The variations with age have been measured for a number of visual abilities associated with movement perception. A sample of 70 drivers was used in the age range 20-75. Significant deteriorations with age were found for Threshold Angular Movement. Results suggest that there are exponential declines in angular movement perception with age for older age groups. Exponential deteriorations with age for older age groups have also been shown for daytime accident rates, static visual acuity, dynamic visual acuity, and the ratio dynamic/static acuity.
