Samenvatting

This paper outlines the problems faced by drivers in hot climates and recommends the setting up of a group of medical specialists to study these problems. Fatigue, brought on by hot air, is of particular concern. Various levels of fatigue are described and measures suggested to mitigate these effects. The protective clothing worn by motor cyclists, cyclists and moped riders although essential is generally considered to be too hot for the climate. Mitigating measures and research underway into this problem are outlined. Other problems caused by diseases specific to hot climates and the rapidity of motorisation are briefly discussed.
