Samenvatting
Background to the introduction of a statutory annual test of road worthiness for vehicles in Great Britain in 1960 is given. The development of the testing scheme over the following years is briefly outlined. A summary of the administration of the test scheme is given. The test itself is discussed in some detail in relation to brakes, lights, steering, tyres, cycle structure and general items such as exhaust systems and horn.
