Samenvatting

In the opinion of the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV), there are many lessons that can be learnt from the introduction of speed cameras in Victoria. This submission to the Queensland Parliamentary Travelsafe Committee has been prepared so that Victoria's experiences can be shared in the event that, should speed cameras be introduced in Queensland, their introduction will have the support of the community. The RACV believes that the main lessons which have been learnt from the introduction of speed cameras in Victoria are that the review of speed limits must precede the introduction of speed cameras and the community must be informed about the rationale for, and the use of, speed cameras.
