Samenvatting
Results of an experiment dealing with speed control in a rural school zone on a high speed two-lane highway are presented. No enforcement was used during this experiment. Results showed that (1) vehicle speeds at the school were less when the driver was advised by flashing beacons, (2) the average speed was relatively constant when the speed limit was not in effect, and (3) the lowest average speeds at the school were obtained when the dynamic "Speed Violation" sign was employed.
