Samenvatting

The relation between journey speed and flow has been investigated at several sites on main roads in suburban areas.the differences observed in the resulting speed/flow relation have been attributed to differences in the physical conditions prevailing at the sites, the most important being the number of intersections, the proportion of dual carriageway, the amount of access available to the adjacent land uses, and the amount of development on the adjacent land. The analysis described enables predictions to be made of speed/flow relation on suburban main roads, given a knowledge of these physical conditions. (Author/publisher)
