Samenvatting

Twenty-one clinical cases are reported of spinal cord injuries sustained motorcycle accidents. The motorcyclist usually sustained this type of injury when he was thrown from his bike, landing on his head or the upper part of his back. Compulsory wearing of crash helmets results in a decreased mortality due to associated head injuries, and an increasing percentage of spinal injuries.
