Samenvatting

A 1-5 mile experimental section of highway was constructed in Essex County, Ontario in 1964 to compare the effectiveness of three different types of base stabilization agents i.e. Portland cement, lime-flash and sodium chloride. In all, 10 different mixes were investigated. This paper includes a discussion of the design of the stabilization mixes the laboratory studies conducted and a description of the field studies including construction procedures and the field testing program.
