Standard in-vehicle bus for public transport : first trials.

This paper focuses on the in-vehicle communication needs and emerging standards between operator devices (external displays, fare collection, GPS localisation, wireless data transmission devices, etc.) on board public transport buses. It was found out that a suitable European wide open standard is under development, namely EN13149, and it's features are explained. The coming piloting site - the City of Tampere - is introduced and the latest pilot device details are presented briefly.
