Samenvatting
The paper presents the main results of a study led on behalf of the French PREDIT programme on the state-of-art, the perspectives and the research needs in matter of traffic data collection. This study was based on a bibliographic analysis, on surveys among traffic experts, and on a thorough analysis of the data and functions intervening in traffic operations. It showed the great importance of sensors in such operations, and determined some sectors in which research and development would be useful. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
