Samenvatting

A statistical study was made to assess the risk of injury to small and large car occupants in collisions. Effects of restraint usage, driver age, and the average number of occupants in vehicles were considered. It was found that the risk of injury increase as vehicle weight decreases, and is expressed in a mathematical formula. About one percent of accident injuries in 1972 were attributed to the change in mean vehicle weight as compared with that of 1969.
