The statistics are based upon a record of motor vehicles which is kept up by the R.A.I. by means of car registration documents issued by the Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer. Passenger cars are accounted for the last six years of manufacture (1969-1974); goods and public service vehicles for the last seven years (1968-1974).
