nation-wide road traffic census (RTC 2010) was performed in 2010 as part of the usual five-year-cycle to monitor traffic development and to determine the traffic volumes on the federal arterial roads - autobahns and national roads. The states had the option also to count the subordinate network (state and district roads) and to have these data evaluated within the framework of the RTC 2010. Not all of the states used this possibility. Only 59% of the state roads and 34% of the district roads were counted, so that no general statements can be made with regard to these road types. The current report contains data for the average daily traffic volume (AADT) and the annual distance travelled by vehicle type and road type for the whole federal area as well as for each individual state. Also included were a description of the statistical calculations for AADT and annual distance travelled, as well as comments concerning the development of the mean values for AADT and annual distance travelled with regard to the year 2005.
