To determine the traffic development and provide the traffic volumes on the federal trunk roads – motorways and national roads – traffic counts are carried out nationwide every 5 years. In 2015, such a road traffic count (RTC 2015) took place. The federal states had the option to count the subordinate network (state and county roads) and to get these data evaluated within the framework of the RTC 2015. This report gives a detailed description of the recording and extrapolation methodology of the manual counts for determining the annual average daily traffic (AADT) as well as a representation of the calculation of parameters (design traffic volumes and noise evaluation values) for which a prior determination of the AADT values is a prerequisite. The methodological explanations are supplemented by exemplary calculations. The report ends with a comparison with the 2010 road traffic census, which addresses changes and their effects. It also contains references to future censuses. (Author/publisher)
