Samenvatting

Fragmented planning and operation of transit services are not conducive to the promotion of the use of transit that is sought by so many authorities. The concepts of transit as a product, and strategic logistics management as a planning and operational approach are presented. How these concepts can be used to improve the planning and image of transit is discussed. A decision support system for implementing strategic logistics management approach is described.
