Samenvatting
This paper presents a study undertaken under the aegis of the French Ministry in charge of the industrial sector. The objective was to analyse the strengths and the weaknesses of the French and European industry concerning telematics in transport. After a presentation of the methodology, the paper highlights the main results concerning three domains: automatic tolling, traffic information and navigation and guidance systems. Recommendations for speeding up the deployment of telematics nation-wide and European-wide are then given.
