Samenvatting

A traffic control method for a oversaturated urban network of any geographical outline, which has been designed to apply in real time is presented. This method is based on a macroscopic model describing the evolution of the number of vehicles on each link. Linear programming is used to determine optimal controls. The performance of the control method has been tested with a microscopic network simulation model and results were compared to pre-time signal programmes.
