Samenvatting

Within the framework of the Quartet plus project two different scenarios for implementation of transport telematics were evaluated. One of the scenarios - scenario I for individual traffic - aimed to maximise the use of existing road space by creating special traffic routes where throughput flow was reinforced. The other scenario - scenario P for public transport - tried to encourage people to use public transport. In order to define the two scenarios in detail, a review of current knowledge about various strategies and their effects was performed. Results from the Gothenburg Quartet plus demonstrations were supplemented with material from TOSCA and results reported in the literature. A regional macro model system was used to perform the calculation of effects. The methodological principle was to represent the effects of the applications in the network as detailed as possible, and then use the model system to calculate the resulting effects on demand, network redistribution, travel time, safety, etc. The results are presented as indicators, most of which are common for all Quartet plus sites. Scenario P is, as expected, the best when it comes to prioritisation of public transport and to improve the use of it. Moreover, travel times by car also decreases in this scenario. The conclusion is that it seems appropriate to realise scenario P to prioritise public transport, but at the same time gradually lessen the disruptions in car traffic by improved incident management, motorway flow control, regional traffic info and adaptive traffic signals.
