Samenvatting

A structural model is used to examine the relationships among an entire system of variables rather than just the simple isolated effects. The basic concepts and limitations of the modelling approach are discussed, and models of urban household trip production are evaluated. Several conclusions about the causal structure of urban travel relationships are drawn.
