A case study on the relationship between infrastructure and economic development had been carried out as part of the research project `economic and spatial effects of infrastructure'. In the study the relationship between infrastructure, accessibility, economic performance and development of employment is explored for the Amersfoort region. Results are: (1) The relationship between infrastructure and economic development at a regional level seems to be found in the location choice behaviour of companies. No evidence was found for a better economic performance of companies near motorways in general; (2) The so-called motorway sensitive activities perform better near motorway exits; and (3) advanced accessibility measures seem to relate stronger with economic performance.
