Samenvatting

An outline design of a magnetically suspended, 30 passenger vehicle for urban transport is presented. Lift and guidance are provided by eight controlled DC electromagnets and propulsion is by a double-sided linear induction motor. The basic principles of the suspension are considered and a comparison is made between alternative suspension methods. A case for the adaption of magnetic suspension is presented.
