Samenvatting

The football field is an ideal setting to study head mechanics during impact and the method of radio telemetry afforded means to obtain the measurements of 1085 impacts to the head of an athlete. His "state of readiness" prolongs the time of an impact and enables his physiologic response to become operative. A concussion was documented with impact data, EEG and video action. The cumulative effect of the blows to the head is demonstrated.
