Samenvatting

An analysis of hourly motor vehicle accidents in the state of North Carolina and the nation reveals that the number of accidents is highest during the afternoon rush hours and lowest during the pre-dawn morning hours. A better index could be obtained, however, by calculating an accident rate on the basis of accident frequency and exposure, as measured by the number of vehicles on the road per hour of the day.
