Samenvatting

The study was conducted using a new automatic recording system called "TAAMS" for traffic accident, which can save the pre- and post accident scenes, installed at six intersections with or without signal control. The research was intended to gain knowledge on the relations between accidents and driver behaviour. Decision strategies of the driver at intersections are discussed in terms of vehicle behaviour in pre-accidents, divided into an approaching stage, preparing stage and crossing stage. In this paper, some accident and conflict cases recorded by TAAMS at an unsignalised intersection are analysed focusing on misjudgements of drivers in the pre-accident behaviour of vehicles. (A)
