Subjective evaluation and public participation.

In the Netherlands a lot of attention has been given to public participation and feelings of safety. Especially in residential areas it is fell that people should have a say in the reconstructions. In a large scale experiment in Rijswijk and Eindhoven residents were asked to express their feelings of safety and their opinions about safety problems and countermeasures. After the reconstruction residents regarded their neighbourhood less safe than before.
