Submarining injuries of three point belted occupants in frontal collisions. Description, mechanisms and protection.

The purpose of this paper is to establish a consolidated version of the most recent work devoted to abdominal protection in frontal collisions for belted occupants and to attempt to ascertain whether the protection criteria currently available would be sufficient to avert the great majority of abdominal injuries.
