Samenvatting

This article is based on the results and practical experience obtained from a pilot project implemented at five establishments in Austria. The setting up of the project was in response to car use increasing by commuters while the use of public transport has declined. The project led to carbon dioxide emission reductions of 3-30%, a 15% reduction in the modal share of private cars, and the implementation of more attractive footpaths and cyclists' facilities. The image of the companies was improved and conflict with neighbours reduced. For the covering abstract see ITRD E116128.
