Samenvatting
The geographical shape of the continent of Europe, as part of the Eurasian land mass, provides several possible axes for traffic communication with other continents, i.e. Asia and Africa. These include the Pyrenean, Appenine and Balkan peninsulas. The Balkan connection is certainly the most continental, since in this direction only a relatively short bridge in Istanbul seperates Europe from Asia. This connection is both extremely important and frequently used.
