Samenvatting

There are a number of magnetic suspensions of which superconducting suspensions are a subset. In these suspensions the movement of the vehicle is used to induce currents in a conducting track which then interacts with the magnets on the vehicle to produce a repulsive suspension force. This work provides a technical and economic definition of high speed ground transport systems using these suspensions. Design assumptions, costing procedure and a cost sensitivity study are also presented.
