Up to 1950, little had been done about motor vehicle accident prevention. However, serious efforts are now being made to prevent accidents by a growing number of professional people who set up an epidemiology of accidents and advocate the education of the driving population and medical doctors by the Health Authorities in Sweden. Details are given of the traffic medicine programme and a new course entitled. "Help on the Road" devised by the Swedish Red Cross.
