Samenvatting

A survey was taken of 52 developers of new towns which were planned or developed within the past five years. Of the 52, 25 percent never reached the developer because of insufficient addresses, and of the remaining, 72 percent were returned. It has been estimated that there are 75 to 100 new towns currently being planned or developed in this country so that this return represents 28 to 37 percent of these new towns. The following developmental aspects of new towns were examined by the survey: function, site selection, recreational considerations, professional disciplines involved, land uses, socioeconomic levels served, federal assistance, and planning problems.
