Community expectations have moved on from the past transport planning paradigms of only capacity, travel time and pricing. Communities in Sydney are representative of many urban communities around the world by being ahead of policy makers when it comes to shifting expectations. Measuring sustainability in a meaningful way continues to be a challenge for transport planners. Accessibility is opportunity to work and relate with others and is a measure of intra generational equity. It has some similar traits to those of sustainability, but also some tensions. For example, the intergenerational change in accessibility is one aspect of sustainability. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see IRRD abstract no. E216410.
