Samenvatting

A national road database is being established in Sweden in joint co-operation between the public and private sector. The database is seen as a digital infrastructure that is expected to be of major importance within many different areas. For instance, up-to-date and quality-assured data will be available throughout the entire country, in addition to a standardised structure for describing road and traffic data being established. The Swedish approach aims at data registration at source, which enables a high level of up-to-dateness in the information provided. Contracts are signed with data suppliers who share joint rights to the data, and the data will be available to everyone on equal terms at a price that promotes use.
