Samenvatting

The synchronous approach appears to be a viable one for use in high-speed, small-time headway, automated ground, transport systems. Some limitations on flow rates, which are posed by this approach, are developed by considering both individual vehicle control and network control. It was determined that various limitations is the vehicle-roadway interface would limit link capacity that some 5200 to 8700 veh/lane/hz, while interactions due to network operations would further reduce these rates by some 20% or more.
