System Acceptability of DSSS (Driving Safety Support Systems) Based on Demonstration Experiment in Toyota City.

In Japan, DSSS (Driving Safety Support Systems), the project initiated byNational Police Agency has been implemented since 2006. The DSSS is characterized as the system aimed preventing accidents by infrastructure-to-vehicle communication, so called VII (Vehicle Infrastructure Integration), and planned to be deployed by 2010. In this paper, the authors report on thesummary of the demonstration experiment in Toyota City and show the findings mainly regarding system acceptability in the DSSS obtained by an analysis of results of questionnaires targeting experiments monitors. During the 2009 demonstration from Jan. to Mar. in Toyota City, a) Signal Information Providing System and b) Stop Sign Information Providing System were introduced into some intersections and roads. Regarding the system acceptability, we have evaluated various aspects of the systems, such as explicitness, timeliness, familiarity, usefulness, and seek a relationship of acceptability with individual attribute, driving experience, driving style and so on.
