Threshold variations are unaffected by varying wavelength or the position of a small stimulus in the retina. Changing the spatial and temporal flash sequence in various ways so as to alter the exposure on any one portion of the retina has no effects on the variations. The functional units in a retina are not varying independently in sensitivity but rather in a synchronized manner.
