Samenvatting

The focus of this experiment was the study of mental and physical stress or "task load" incurred in the operation of a motor vehicle. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the usefulness of four procedures: (1) various scorings of cardiovascular data; (2) random generation of digits; (3) interval production (verbal tapping) and (4) a short- term memory (attention task) for the assessment of driving task load in terms of their ability to validly and reliably discriminate between traffic areas of significantly different characteristics.
