Soil stabilisation can be carried out either in situ or in the mixing plant. For mixing in place there are multi pass one-shaft soil stabilisers by means of which a soil layer of variable thickness can be treated in 2 to 4 passes, and single pass stabilisers with two or more shafts which often comprise a compacting device yielding a Proctor density of 90- 95 %.
