Samenvatting

A study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of seat belt fastening warning systems. Seat belt usage was measured using an electro-mechanical device which counted the number of times the seat belt was used compared to the number of vehicle trips. This results suggest that seat belt reminder systems could prove to be a viable alternative to passive or semi-passive restraints and compulsory seat belt use legislation.
