Samenvatting
A lot of people seems convinced that telematics will change the world of transport in a drastic way. Should people have great expectations without thinking about what the results should be? This is not the right approach. Telematics can only be a mean, not a target. Therefore, attention has to be focused on the problems caused by the transport system, that can be solved by telematics better than in another way. A rough investigation of the possibilities shows telematics in the field of traffic management in favour of environmental protection to be useful. This possibility has not been fully recognized yet.
