Samenvatting

In 1994 Potters initiated the very first of what was to become a very comprehensive round of field trials involving pavement marking systems. In the series of partnered trials that followed, partnering with other suppliers, contractors and road authorities, there was much that was to be discovered. New methods of application were developed that improved performance in durability and safety. New pavement marking systems were born, that now offer better all round performance. Skid resistance has been improved and proven sustainable. Paint dry-through times have been accelerated. Markings can now appear more conspicuous in all driving conditions. The trials involved a variety of pavement marking binder types, surface applied particle types, and a variety of application equipment. This paper presents summary results of these first ten years of testing. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. 0612AR242E.
